The founder of Off-White and the artistic director for Louis Vuitton's men wear was 41. LV's parent company LVMH made the surprising and devastating announcement on Twitter.
He was a visionary and made history in the fashion game becoming the first Black man to take charge at Louis Vuitton back in 2018.
Just last July, he was promoted to a new position within LVMH that allowed him to work across the group's 75 brands, making him the most powerful Black executive.

Not long after that, Time magazine named him one of the most influential people of the year
Although he studied civil engineering and architecture as opposed to fashion, his mother was a seamstress. She was the one who taught him the basics.
A few years later, he met Kanye West. Their relationship set him on the road to Paris. Kanye signed a deal with Louis Vuitton in 2009, he and his creative team that included Virgil headed off to fashion week and started a buzz.
A true visionary and creative force to be reckoned with, Virgil leaves behind his wife Shannon and 2 children.
