Academy Award winning actress Viola Davis is putting her story on paper.
"Finding Me" will take us on a journey from her humble beginnings in South Carolina where she and her family lived in a one room shack to how she got to famed acting school Juilliard and later became the first African American to achieve the triple crown of acting: An Oscar (Fences), 2 Tony Awards and an Emmy for her role as Annalise Keating in How To Get Away With Murder.
In a recent statement according to the Associated Press, Viola explained what compelled her to write an autobiography.
"I believe that our stories, and the courage to share them, is the most powerful empathetic tool we have
"This is my story ... straight no chaser."
In addition to be an award winning actress, she shares a production company with her husband Julius Tennon. Now, she can also add author to her resume.
"Finding Me" hit shelves April 26, 2022. It is published in partnership with Ebony Magazine Publishing.
