Comedian David Adkins, better known as Sinbad, surfaced with an Instagram post after a long 3 years with #goodnews.

Recently, the cast of A Different World -which ran for six seasons- kicked off an HBCU tour in late February. The video post opens with him watching a recap on another account's Instagram post. "Man, that was so cool," he reflects. The college crowd roars when Sinbad appears on the screen at the Atlanta University Center. (Can you IMAGINE?!) "It's wild that the kids even know who I am," he continues. Sir, of course they know who you are! How legendary! #adifferentworld

Cast members on the tour include Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Dawnn Lewis, Glynn Turman, Cree Summer, Charnele Brown, Darryl Bell and Sinbad shook Atlanta university students with a virtual appearance.

Bell, who played Ron Johnson on the sitcom, helped organize the tour. He told CNN he sees the campus visits as an opportunity to honor the legacy of the show and introduce a new generation to HBCUs.

The cast, after 35 years, is set to tour a handful of historically black colleges and universities to promote enrollment and raise scholarship funding for current and future students. So far, $50,000 in scholarship funding has been raised and the goal is $1 million by the end of the tour. Seems like they're off to a good start. #hbcupride

For deeper context, the Adkins family updated his social media pages with saddening news in November 2020. Sinbad was recovering from a recent stroke, and they asked for their privacy to be respected. Since then, Sinbad has stayed away from the public eye. The family posted another update in November 2022, where Sinbad was pictured seemingly doing better, and learning to walk again. It's amazing what can happen when you prioritize your health, (and your peace!)

After his stroke in 2020, his family created a page to update fans with his progress, as well as accept donations for anyone who wished to give.

In his latest Instagram post, we get to hear him express how thankful he is for all of the unwavering support. It is completely refreshing to see him in good spirits. He also said his heart goes out to others who are experiencing similar situations, and that he is reaching out to everyone as fast as he can.

“I want to say this to all the people who’ve emailed me through the website. Some of you are going through what I’m going through or even worse than me,” he said. “I’m reading these things. I’m going to try and answer as many as I can. I pray for you and understand what it’s like. It’s rough.

Sinbad proceeded to tease that we may be seeing more of him soon.

“Expect to see more of me soon and don’t freak out if you turn around, I’m standing right behind you,” he said. “‘Sinbad, I can’t believe you’re here.’ You can’t believe it? You better believe it. Miracles happen.

Many warm comments were left under Sinbad's touching Instagram post. I think sometimes it's nice to hear good news, and know that someone's prayers have been answered. We are excited to see more of Sinbad, and can't wait to hear more from him soon! Much love to him and the Adkins family.
