History will soon be made! President Biden is expected to announce Ketanji Brown-Jackson as his Supreme Court nominee pick. She will be the first Black woman ever nominated to the Supreme Court.

Judge Jackson is currently serving on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. She has served a district judge since 2013 and has served as public defender in the past. She will also be the first federal public defender to serve on the court.
She is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
In late January, Supreme court justice Stephen Breyer announced his retirement which left a vacant seat. It also opened the door for Biden to fulfill a key campaign promise that he would nominate a black woman if given the opportunity.
"I've made no decision except one: The person I will nominate will be someone with extraordinary qualifications, character experience and integrity," Biden said in January. "And that person will be the first Black woman ever nominated to the United States Supreme Court. It's long overdue in my view. I made that commitment during my campaign for president, and I will keep that commitment."
