Normani's Long Awaited Debut is Almost Here

Normani fans have been eager to hear new music since the singer announced a title for a new album to be released back in February this year. The new album titled, "DOPAMINE," will feature newly released single "1:59."

(Hugo Comte, RCA Records.)

The track encapsulates Normani's exploration of femininity, intertwining sensuality and strength in a genuine and empowering narrative. Filled with sultry guitar melodies, she addresses a potential love interest. Atlanta native rapper, Gunna, is featured on the song as well. The former Fifth Harmony singer's first solo project is set to release on June 14th.

With Normani's debut on the way, she continues to solidify herself outside of her original girl group. She proves that she's versatile, captivating, and a force to be reckoned with. The album includes dance tracks, but shows another side of the 27 year-old singer as well. She’s also faced heartbreak and intense, unwarranted internet scrutiny. As she said in an interview with Elle, “This body of work really is just a representation of my resilience.”

“I think that there’s a false narrative that because of how long this process has taken, that means I don’t care, or that means I’m more interested in doing other things than putting this body of work out,” she added.

Normani also sat down with Harper's Bazaar for a fun Q&A where she was challenged to recall very specific events of her life, and since her career since the start of Fifth Harmony. Her level of confidence and security shines through her speech and response. She talks about this new era showing a different side, and embracing her femininity.

She also opened up about stepping away from the spotlight after her parents’ were diagnosed with cancer, and about how she fought to take control of her own creative process. "I worked relentlessly with my creative director, Kwasi Fordjour. We did our research. I really wanted to have a title that felt like it definitely encompassed everything that I feel I’ve been through in my journey to get to the point that I’m in right now,” she told Elle.

Fans have been eager to hear more of Normani's sound, and this new era is set to release just in time for the summer. Be sure to stream "1:59" in support ahead of Normani's debut album, Dopamine, set to release June 14th!
