A few hometown celebrities are getting some love from Miami Dade in a big way. The naming of different streets in Miami have been officially approved by the Miami-Dade County Commission to honor some big names in the Miami music industry.
From pioneers like Trick Daddy and Trina to chart-toppers like Rick Ross and City Girls, the initiative was approved last month. Presented by District 3 Commissioner Keon Hardemon, it’s part of the economic revival of the Liberty City neighborhood, NBC 6 South Florida reported.
"If you play this music to the people who are from this area, they are going to light up like it's the Fourth of July," Hardemon told NBC6. "The essence of this is to encourage economic development in our community."
Hardemon confirmed the renamed streets are congregated around 8th Avenue.
