Latto Pops Out to Support Angel Reese in Her WNBA Debut

Alyssa Stephens, professionally known as Latto, made it crystal clear that she was attending the basketball game in Texas to support new rookie WNBA star, Angel Reese. She's often seen court-side cheering her Atlanta Hawks on, but she's also supportive of the ladies, too.

Fans were excited to see Angel take the court earlier this week. The LSU forward made her debut on May 15th, as her Chicago Sky team took on the Dallas Wings. Latto was sure to be in attendance.

During a courtside interview, the Atlanta native told viewers she believes 2024 is the year of the woman and backing the WNBA falls under that umbrella. Speaking on the hype surrounding the current WNBA season, she added, “It’s the year of the female. It’s the year of the girl. I’m here for the girl power, period. Let’s go, Angel Reese!” #girlpower

“I love Texas, but I did want to be at her first game. Everybody gon’ come later, but we did it first,” Latto responded when asked about what else brought her to the event. “Year of the female. Baby, you better tap in or tap out.”  This isn’t the first time that Latto and Reese have supported one another. In 2023, Reese made a surprise cameo in the rapper's “Put It On Da Flo Floor” music video.

In April of this year, Reese was drafted by Chicago Sky as the seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. “I’ve done everything I wanted to in college,” she told Vogue earlier that month. “I’ve won a national championship. I’ve gotten [Southeastern Conference] Player of the Year. I've been an All-American. My ultimate goal is to be a pro — and to be one of the greatest basketball players to play. I feel like I’m ready.”

Reese was solid in her first game as she poured in 12 points to go along with 8 rebounds in 26 minutes on the floor. Reese and the Sky won’t have to wait long to comeback, as they’re scheduled for a rematch on Saturday night (May 18th).

Let's hope that more light continues to shine on Angel as she plays her first season, as well as the WNBA league.
