The 2024 Black Women In Hollywood Award celebrates the achievements of outstanding individuals in the entertainment industry. Among this year's esteemed honorees are Danielle Brooks, an Academy Award nominee and Grammy Award winner; Halle Bailey, a six-time Grammy-nominated singer and leading actress; Nkechi Okoro Carroll, a highly acclaimed screenwriter and showrunner known for her work on series like "All American" and "Found"; and Kathryn Busby, a powerhouse figure serving as President of Original Programming for STARZ.
Danielle Brooks
Hailing from Juilliard, this actress surged into the spotlight in 2013 with her compelling portrayal of Tasha “Taystee” Jefferson in the critically acclaimed series "Orange Is the New Black." Subsequently, she made her mark on Broadway in the musical revival of "The Color Purple," earning a Tony Award nomination and clinching a Grammy Award. Last year, she revisited her role as the determined Black woman in Blitz Bazawule’s cinematic adaptation of the same musical, garnering nominations for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA Award. Next, audiences can anticipate her appearance in the upcoming adventure film "Minecraft," slated for release in 2025.

Halle Bailey
Halle Bailey's versatility has mesmerized audiences for four seasons as Skyler “Sky” Forster in the beloved series "Grown-ish." In the music realm, Bailey soared with multiple Grammy nominations as one half of the dynamic duo Chloe x Halle, while also earning solo acclaim for her stirring ballad “Angel.” Her star power extended to the silver screen, where she enchanted audiences as the iconic character in Disney’s live-action remake of "The Little Mermaid," and portrayed a young Nettie Harris in the 2023 adaptation of "The Color Purple." With a career spanning over a decade and endless opportunities ahead, this 23-year-old actress, singer, and songwriter continues to ascend higher, proving that the sky’s the limit for her talent and ambition.
Katherine Busby
With a Harvard degree under her belt, this entertainment aficiando's journey spans continents and industries. She honed her skills in executive roles at LaFace, Paisley Park, and MCA Records in London before transitioning to Universal Television as the director of comedy development in 1996. Following this, she held a pivotal position as senior vice president and head of development at Carsey-Werner for six years. Throughout her illustrious career, she has contributed to the success of shows like "Whoopi," "The Tracy Morgan Show," and "The Aisha Tyler Show." Notably, as the former senior vice president of production at New Line Cinema, she steered the ship for the acclaimed 2008 film "Sex and the City" and served as a senior executive on "Rush Hour 3." Currently, she thrives as the President of Original Programming at Starz, a role she has held since 2021.

Nkechi Okoro Carroll
Nkechi Okoro Carroll is a versatile figure in the entertainment landscape, showcasing her talents as a skilled writer, producer, and actor. Graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, she pursued further education, earning a Master's degree from NYU in 2002. Carroll's career is marked by notable contributions to various television shows, including "A Breath of Fresh Air with Jon and Nkechi," "Bones," "Rosewood," and "The Resident." In 2018, she elevated her role as an executive producer with the CW's popular series "All American" and its spinoff, "All American Homecoming." Carroll's latest endeavor, "Found," debuted on NBC to resounding praise last October, solidifying her status as a respected and accomplished figure in the entertainment industry.
The highly anticipated annual event honoring the contributions of Black women to the film and TV industry was held on Thursday, March 7th, at the prestigious Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Renowned actor, Grammy-winning rapper, and entrepreneur Cliff “Method Man” Smith served as the host for this star-studded occasion.
