Halle Bailey will embark on a new journey in her career with a role in a musical production. The critically acclaimed star of "The Little Mermaid" is now officially part of an extraordinary Universal Pictures project, teaming up with Pharrell Williams and Michel Gondry ("Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"). This coming-of-age musical is set in Virginia Beach during the summer of 1977, drawing inspiration from Williams' own childhood neighborhood, Atlantis Apartments.

The project is said to be based on a script by Martin Hynes (“Toy Story 4”) and Steven Levenson (“Tick, Tick…Boom!”). Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Oscar-winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph have also joined the cast.
Since her debut in the live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid,” Bailey, now a new mother, has relentlessly pursued her acting career. Her commitment to her craft shines through in diverse roles, whether she's bringing to life a mermaid yearning for land or portraying the tender yet resilient character of young Nettie in Blitz Bazawule’s “The Color Purple.” #thecolorpurple
Motherhood stands out as Bailey’s most significant life achievement to date, and she holds this honor with utmost seriousness. One of her main priorities is keeping him out the spotlight that illuminates her. She was honored with an Essence Black Women In Hollywood award this year and during her speech, she shared that the greatest joy in her life was becoming a mother to her son, Halo. “He is the greatest blessing and I had no obligation to expose him, me or my family to that unyielding spotlight.”
Bailey shines not only as an accomplished actress but also as a versatile musician. Her recent solo releases include "Angel" in 2023 and "In Your Hands" this year, marking her debut as a solo artist beyond collaboration with her sister, Chloe Bailey. Together, they form Chloe x Halle, renowned for their innovative, harmonious tunes. Given Halle's stunning vocals, her collaboration with Pharrell on a musical promises to be a delightful experience!
