Frankie Beverly To Be Honored at 2024 Essence Festival With ‘Final Performance’ Tribute

Essence Festival organizers revealed that legendary soul group Maze featuring Frankie Beverly will be recognized during this summer's festival with “a star-studded tribute” that will “honor their final performance.”

An Essence Fest social media video announcing the appearance talked about his long history with the festival and how he was the closing act for the first 15 years. It even touched on his return to the festival in 2015 and 2019 and how this year he will be celebrated.

In the video, Beverly says, "It's always nice to be honored by your people....The 30th anniversary of Essence is a wonderful thing."

Fans are asked to wear all-white that night, in keeping with the tradition of Beverly's long-ago closing nights at Essence. 

The 2024 Essence Festival of Culture takes place on July 7. Beverly is one of several acts for the festival’s July 5-7 nighttime concerts that were revealed recently. The announced roster also includes Janet Jackson, Charlie Wilson and TGT (Tank, Ginuwine, Tyrese) and many others.
