It's finally time to say goodbye to the coming of age series we all know and love, "Grown-ish." I still remember watching the first season premiere episode in my dorm room in 2018. There wasn't another series at the time that was created for college/young adult viewers. That's such a significant milestone!

Season 6B continues the story seamlessly from where the first half left off, featuring favorites Marcus Scribner and Yara Shahidi returning to portray Andre Johnson Jr. (aka Junior) and Zoey Johnson one last time. In this final season, Junior braces himself for his impending journey into adulthood as graduation looms, while those around him also prepare for their ultimate adventure together. #grownish
This adventure means something different for everyone.
Just like the previous seasons, Grown-ish's upcoming Season 6B is shaping up to be a star-studded event. We'll be seeing familiar faces like Francia Raisa, Emily Arlook, Jordan Buhat, and Luka Sabbat, alongside exciting guest appearances by Druski (as Brock), Kelly Rowland, Lil Yachty, Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals, and Latto. What a lineup!
The final season will feature series regulars Trevor Jackson, Diggy Simmons, Daniella Taylor, Justine Skye, and Tara Raani. Additionally, Malcolm-Jamal Warner will make a guest appearance as Doug's father, Darnell, while Rich Paul will have a cameo as himself.
Shahidi broke the news in March 2023 that Season 6 would mark the final chapter of the show, just two months after its renewal. In a video shared on the series' YouTube page, Shahidi also revealed the Emmy-nominated spinoff of "Black-ish" will also celebrate its 100th episode milestone during this concluding season.
"You guys have been with us since season 1, and it has been such an honor to play Zoey and grow up alongside her for the past nine years," the 24-year-old expressed. "Your support over the last five seasons has really meant the world to us, the cast and crew, and we wanna take the time to thank you all for the love and support that has kept us going."
She added, "And like I said, there's still another season to go and trust me, it's gonna be big."
The finale of Grown-ish marks the conclusion of Kenya Barris' -ish franchise. He created and executively produced 8 seasons of Black-ish, which had its' final season in April 2022. The prequel series, Mixed-ish, aired for two seasons between 2019 and 2021. Although Barris rumored toward a spinoff with Laurence Fishburne and Jenifer Lewis, it was never picked up.

"We've spent nearly a decade telling our stories through the -ish series and to say it has been an amazing journey would be an understatement...I could not be more proud of everything we've accomplished and the -ish family I've been a part of," Barris expressed.
"I mean, we hit 100 episodes. Shows don't get to do that anymore," Shahidi stated. "So, I think it's bitter, but primarily sweet, because we got to tell a lot of story, and I've gotten to be a lot of Zoey over the past six years." #100episodes
Scribner echoed her sentiment when speaking to ET ahead of season 6's premiere.
"I've been playing this character for 10 years; he's a great guy, I love the dude. And I'm excited for where Junior has been able to take things," he shared. "I never could have imagined when we started Black-ish that this is where the character would end up. So I'm very thankful and just happy with where he's gone....it's time to say goodbye.'"
Even with Scribner's mature approach to the show's conclusion, he confessed that he'll feel a sense of sadness when it's all over. "I'm gonna miss my crew, my cast, the people that I've known for years and years [who have] become like a family to me at this point," he shared. "It feels like I'm graduating again."
Season 6B of Grown-ish premieres March 27 at 10 p.m. ET on Freeform and streams the next day on Hulu.
I love this show! I’ll have to tune in.
