iHeartMedia has settled a legal dispute with Drake over allegations the radio network received “payola” from Universal Music Group (UMG) to play Kendrick Lamar’s anti-Drake diss track Not Like Us. In a filing on Thursday, February 27, with the Bexar County District Court in San Antonio, Texas, lawyers for Drake said the rapper and the radio network had “reached an amicable resolution of the dispute to the satisfaction of both sides.”
The Canadian rapper filed a legal petition in November claiming the company boosted the diss record on the radio by taking illegal payments from Universal Media Group (UMG). In January, Drake officially filed a defamation lawsuit against UMG alleging the music company was aware that the “certified pedophile” claims made in “Not Like Us” were false and defamatory, yet still chose to distribute the record.
The legal petition against UMG will remain active in the Texas district court. Besides the song being performed on national stages like Super Bowl LIX to the 2025 Oscars, the chart-topping track earned the Compton rapper multiple Grammy awards including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
