Disney is in the works to create a sequel/ to the hit 2006 movie The Devil Wears Prada. The movie starred Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, a high-powered fashion magazine editor nightmare with Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt as her assistants Andrea Sachs and Emily Charlton.
The film’s original screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is reportedly going to return to work on the next chapter of the possible franchise. It is not clear yet who will return to shoot the movie but reportedly it will follow Priestly as she navigates her career during the decline of traditional magazine publishing and faces off against Blunt’s character.
Blunt’s character will be a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly needs. After its June 2006 release, the film grossed a massive $326 million at the worldwide box office. Streep landed her fourteenth Oscar nomination, along with a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy after the film's release.
The original The Devil Wears Prada was adapted by Author Lauren Weisberger’s novel of the same name, which fictionalized the author’s time as an assistant to Vogue's Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour.
