While it feels like Black history is fighting its absolute hardest to combat erasure, we are constantly reminded that our presence in the world is solid. We live in a world where numerous things continue to intrude into our community, but we prove our foundation to be strong time and time again.

This Black History Month, we'll be able to witness history being made in modern television. An upcoming premiere of Beyond The Gates, the first-ever, hour-long Black daytime drama to air television is set to release this month. CBS unveiled a highly anticipated trailer for the new series, which debuts on February 24, 2025.
The new show will air weekdays at 2:00 PM ET on CBS and will also be available to stream on Paramount+. The series marks a significant milestone—being the first new daytime soap opera to debut in over two decades. It's obvious this impacts the industry in more ways than one.

CBS has also taken to their Instagram page to post a snippet of a character breakdown of the cast, and the comments are booming with people who are eager for the series to begin. The cast includes many illustrious stars including Timon Kyle Durrett, Clifton Davis, Tamara Tunie, Karla Cheatham Mosely, and many more.
Beyond the Gates is set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside Washington, D.C., and one of the most affluent African American counties in the United States. Here you’ll find a posh gated community with winding tree-lined streets and luxurious mansions to call home.
At the center of the community are the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty. But behind these pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. And those who live outside the gates are watching closely. These are the places where our characters live, love, work and play. Those who have “made it” and those who haven’t are all trying to navigate life, and some with more grace than others.
Be sure to catch this new series premiere on February 24th on CBS! And don't forget to spread the word about a new daytime soap during Black History Month! Let's continue to support the Black community through milestones of every kind.
