After 14 years on air, the talk is set to televise their final show in December 2024.

Rumors of the show’s end have been circulating for a while, but CBS made it official to the show’s cast and crew on Friday morning. The news comes as CBS and the NAACP are developing a new daytime soap opera under their content partnership, “The Gates,” a partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. “The Gates,” which follows the lives of a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community, is seen as a potential replacement for 'The Talk.'

In a joint statement, CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios president David Stapf said, "’The Talk’ broke new ground when it launched 14 years ago by returning daytime talk to CBS with a refreshing and award-winning format. Throughout the years, it has been a key program on CBS’ top rated daytime line-up as it brought timely, important and entertaining topics and discussions into living rooms around the globe."

“The Talk” first premiered in 2010 (replacing “As the World Turns” on the Eye’s lineup) and was created and hosted by Sara Gilbert for the first nine seasons. It was pitched as an alternative to “The View” as a show discussing topics through the lens of motherhood, but later expanded focus. Original hosts included Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Julie Chen Moonves, Holly Robinson Peete, Marissa Janet Winokur, and Leah Remini. Underwood is the only person from the early days of the talk show who still remains today. She sits alongside Natalie Morales, Amanda Kloots, Jerry O’Connell and Akbar Gbajabiamila.

The statement went on to express "sincere gratitude" to the hosts, producers, crew, and recognized former hosts and colleagues who contributed throughout the seasons.

Other hosts over the years have included Aisha Tyler, Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Marie Osmond. Over its lifespan, “The Talk” earned 11 Daytime Emmy Awards (including for outstanding talk show/entertainment, host, and writing through 2015-2018) via 56 nominations. Other accolades include People’s Choice Award (2016) for daytime TV hosting team and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Talk Series (2016).
