Beyoncé, also known as Bey, can be found on the highly anticipated cover atop a beautiful white horse. With clear roots stemming from Act I: Renaissance, the background is black and she is pictured holding an American flag. She took to Instagram to share the Cowboy Carter cover, along with a lengthy caption on Tuesday, March 19.
'This album has been over five years in the making. It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed...and it was very clear that I wasn't," she wrote.
Earlier this year, Bey dropped the biggest Easter egg during the Super Bowl. Not only did we get to see her in Verizon's commercial during the break, but if you listened closely toward the end, you would have heard her say "drop the new music!" #whatatime
Singles "Texas Hold 'Em" and "16 Carriages" were released on streaming platforms, and it felt like the world stopped. Both songs have been taking the world by storm, with "Texas Hold 'Em" holding a spot at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. She acknowledges her gratitude toward being the first Black woman to achieve this.
"That would have not happened without the outpouring of support from each and every one of you. My hope is that years from now, the mention of an artist's race, as it relates to releasing genres of music, will be irrelevant," she stated.
Fans speculate the singer was referencing her 2016 appearance at the CMA Awards, where she performed her country pop song, "Daddy Lessons" from her Lemonade album alongside The Chicks (Dixie Chicks). While she did not go in to great detail, it is quite clear that this project is near and dear to Bey's heart. She turned her pain and experience into passion and triumph, and in 10 days we'll be able to hear it all through her point of view.
"It feels good to see how music can unite so many people around the world, while also amplifying the voices of some of the people who have dedicated so much of their lives educating on our musical history,' she noted.
Fans are clearly on the edge of their seats for the Cowboy Carter release, with Beyoncé's announcement post at a whopping 3 million likes. The album is set to release March 29th, in 10 more days. Congratulations to Bey for continuing to push past barriers and show others what can be done when you put your mind to it. Yeeee-haw!
