The 22 year old who is daughter to Kimora Lee Simmons does not want to live in her mother's shadow. She recently spoke about her consideration to leave the modeling industry.

“I think I’m probably wrapping up modeling soon,” she explained in a recent live stream via Instagram, per TMZ. “I’m working on getting a job in my degree field but you know, while I’m still here I should do my best.” While Aoki explained to her followers that she did not want to come across as “whiny,” she expressed frustration in attempting to fill her mother’s shoes.

“It just feels like one big, fat comparison all the time,” Aoki continued. “‘Okay you’re not as good,’ I get that. My mom is always going to be a way better model than me. But it’s just annoying to have that comparison sometimes.”

Aoki mentioned that her mother, who began her modeling career as a teenager and graced the covers of Vogue and Elle, as well as walked in shows for designers like Valentino and Fendi, was able to land jobs that Aoki herself has yet to secure. She also expressed how challenging it is to live up to her mother’s legacy as a renowned former Chanel model, noting that she's constantly being compared to Kimora.

The Harvard graduate explained that she is currently pursuing a career in government, aiming to apply her degree in international relations. Aoki mentioned that she is preparing to take the foreign service exam. In the meantime, she’s staying motivated by following her mother’s advice to "finish strong."

“While I’m still here I should do my best,” she continued. “I hope I don’t sound whiny.”

The fashionista often shares her various modeling campaigns via social media.
